A closer look at EU and UK proposals for Brexit

Open Europe invites you to a panel debate in Brussels:

A closer look at EU and UK proposals for Brexit

Date and Time: Thursday October 11, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM (CET)

Location: Open Europe Brussels office, 61 Rue du Trône, 1050 Brussels, Belgium

Ahead of the upcoming EU Council Summit on October 18, Open Europe is hosting a panel debate in Brussels to discuss what the future trade relationship between the UK and the EU could look like. Topics to be discussed include:

  • What are the merits of UK’s Chequers proposals for continued frictionless trade in goods?
  • Are the EU's concerns about the division of Single Market's four freedoms warranted?
  • What is at stake with regard to the border in Northern Ireland and UK-EU supply chains?
  • Where is there scope for compromise over the “Irish backstop”?

Speakers:

Prof. Dr. Franklin Dehousse
Professor in EU law at the University of Liège, Belgium and Former Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union (General Court)

Stephen Booth
Director of Policy and Research, Open Europe

Moderated by Pieter Cleppe, Head of Open Europe’s Brussels office

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. (NOTE: The event is now sold out)
