In 2014, Catholic, Anglican, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish and Orthodox religious leaders signed a Joint Declaration of Religious Leaders Against Modern Slavery as a public statement of their commitment to work together in spiritual and practical action to eradicate trafficking in human beings and restore dignity and freedom to its victims.

To commemorate that important document, COMECE, along with Don Bosco International, co-organise a public Conference at the European Parliament (Room ASP-A5E3), hosted by MEP Javier Zarzalejos (EPP), with the participation of MEP Pietro Bartolo (S&D) on 2 December 2019 (15 pm to 17 pm) entitled “TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS: 5 YEARS AFTER THE JOINT DECLARATION OF RELIGIOUS LEADERS AGAINST “MODERN SLAVERY”.

This conference aims at bringing together different religions and denominations to express their determination to fights against it, and to share their actions taken to prevent and counter this criminal reality which is, many times, invisible for our eyes in European societies.
