The film follows students and allies of the Central European University as they struggle to resist attacks by an authoritarian government.
One year after the Central European University (CEU) announced its forced relocation from Budapest to Vienna, Szabad Egyetem/ The Free University brings to Brussels the stories of its students. They tried to resist a backsliding democracy and the consequences of democratic “red lines” being crossed with impunity. Produced by a group of former Central European University students, the documentary exposes the relentless stream of misinformation, propaganda and open hostility that the Central European University has faced since the adoption of the "Lex CEU” in 2017.
Runtime: 54 minutes.
A debate with former CEU students who produced the documentary and a reception will follow the screening.
