About SIGGS
Good governance is increasingly becoming a core topic for sport organisations at all levels. There are plenty of reasons to explain this trend, including the pressure on the proper use of public funds as well as the responsibilities of sport organisations towards their sports and other stakeholders. Furthermore, it has been shown that investing in good governance leads to an organisation with the right ethical behaviour, which is governed more efficiently, is more resistant to various risks and is more effective in reaching its objectives. Therefore, investing in good governance is investing in sporting success.
The general objective of the SIGGS project is to promote and support good governance in sport by providing practical guidance to National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and national sport federations (NFs) on how to implement principles of good governance in order to enhance their governance.
The SIGGS Project, which is managed by the European Olympic Committees EU Office (EOC EU Office), is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme of the European Union and officially supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- To create a Steering Committee in order to exchange expertise and good practice examples
- To develop educational tools to provide practical guidance to NOCs and NF
- To analyse the needs of individual NOCs and NFs and customise the educational tools accordingly
- To help NOCs and NFs with the implementation of good governance principles by organising national Strategic Workshops on Good Governance
