SAVING LIVES BY INCREASING AWARENESS OF CANCER-ASSOCIATED THROMBOSIS

Health
poster-cat-event-16-october-2018
Date: Tuesday, 16 October 2018 15:30 - 17:30

Venue: European Parliament  |  City: Bruxelles

Cancer-Associated Thrombosis (CAT) is the second most frequent cause of mortality in cancer patients. It is a neglected condition that leads to increased numbers of deaths of cancer-patients that could be avoided with targeted preventive measures.

To mark World Thrombosis Day on 13 October the European Cancer Patient Coalition, with the support of LEO Pharma, will launch the first survey ever on awareness of Cancer-Associated Thrombosis among cancer patients on 16 October. The findings from six EU countries shed light on the need for raising awareness on CAT, and will be sure to open a discussion on how to address this with targeted policy measures.

We hope that you will be able to join us to discuss:

  • The results of the ECPC patient survey and the need to raise awareness to reduce the clinical and economic burden of CAT in Europe
  • Steps to address CAT and other cancer-related co-morbidities at national and EU levels

Join the discussion with:

·        MEP Deirdre Clune, EPP, IE

·        Anna Falanga, MD, Chairman, European Thrombosis and Haemostasis Alliance

·        Lydia Makaroff, Director, European Cancer Patient Coalition

·        MEP Lieve Wierinck, ALDE, BE

·        Dr. Fionnuala Ní Ainle, MD, PhD, Member, World Thrombosis Day Steering Committee

·        A former CAT patient

We look forward to seeing you there!
