On May 25, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect reinforcing EU citizens’ rights to privacy in the digital age. At the same time data protection laws have the potential to reshape the way our online world works as every communication that's sent between devices on the global Internet exchanges data (some of which are or can be considered as personally identifiable information).
At this lunch debate we will examine how the GDPR and other data protection or privacy related legislative initiatives can affect the technical parameters underpinning the Internet, the global Internet's systems of unique identifiers such as the domain name system (DNS), and wider cybersecurity issues related to those technical parameters.
Speakers from technical community, private sector engaged in cybersecurity activities, law enforcement and the data protection field will highlight the different perspectives of this multifaceted high-interest topic.
