Industry, Enterprise, and Single Market
logo-15
Date: Thursday, 03 October 2019 10:00 - 14:00

Venue: Avenue de Tervuren 168, 1150 Woluwe-Saint Pierre

After last year's successful dialogue on "Access to Raw Materials", we are pleased to announce this Policy Design Workshop kicking off our second round of stakeholder dialogues on Thursday, 3 October. The objective is to launch effective joint political initiatives in the context of the reconstitution of the European Parliament and the European Commission to promote the interests of the raw materials sector. This workshop will bring together a great wealth of interested stakeholders along the entire raw material value chain from across Europe, as well as Brussels-based policymakers. Background to the event

The metalworking and extractive industries are the key to maintaining the current pace of global development. However, the acceleration of climate change requires that environmentally sound and sustainable solutions are considered along the entire value and supply chain. The stakeholder dialogue will culminate in a high-level Dinner Debate at the start of the European Commission’s EU Raw Materials Week on 18 November. This should show that competitiveness and compliance with the Paris climate targets are no contradiction.

About the organisation

EUMICON is a platform for strategic discussion processes. The platform links public institutions, interest groups, the mineral resources industry, as well as R&D. We strive to promote a cross-cutting sustainable pathway of growth, by taking into account different angles, including the alignment of green financial instruments that act as a support mechanism through climate resilient growth, climate-optimized infrastructure upgrades and other public policy initiatives that encourage environmentally responsible private investments.
