Commissioner Designate for Health Stella Kyriakides has been tasked by President Ursula von der Leyen to support Member States to improve cancer prevention and care. Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan should propose actions to strengthen our approach at every key stage of the disease: prevention, early detection, rapid diagnosis, treatment, life as a cancer survivor and palliative care. There should be a close link with the research mission on cancer in the future Horizon Europe research programme. In this context, we are meeting on the morning of Wednesday 6th November to discuss lung cancer’s prominent role in this plan.
