In order to share this extensive experience beyond the circle of its members, MEDREG is organizing a high-level “MEDREG Energy Forum” in Brussels, on 6 November. The date approximatively coincides with the finalization of the plurennial Grant Contract with the European Commission and the event shall clearly highlight MEDREG’s ambitions.
The Forum will highlight our achievements, approach and vision and reflect working groups’ activities. The scope of this Forum is to create a connection between the work performed by MEDREG and the overall evolution of the gas and electricity markets of the region. The event will serve to showcase our most relevant outputs allowing for a deep discussion on their regulatory and policy implications, in particular for MEDREG partners and stakeholders.
The event will address the most relevant evolutions in the Mediterranean energy sector: the increasing importance of gas with the new sources and routes traced by the recent discoveries particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean and the quick pace of RES deployment in the system which will have a significant impact on the management of national and cross-border electricity networks.
The Forum will focus on the role of renewable energy and gas sources in developing sound regulatory frameworks and reliable markets along the ultimate goal of creating a functioning Mediterranean energy (electricity and gas) market.
