1989-2019: a flashmob for Europe

Civil Society
image-4
Date: Saturday, 09 November 2019 12:00 - 13:00

Venue: Kennedy Piece - European Commission

The Berlin Wall was part of the Iron Curtain that split Berlin, Germany and Europe in two for 28 years (1961-1989).
At least 138 people died attempting to climb the wall from east to west. Eventually the wall fell on 9 November 1989.

30 years later, it remains a symbol of a divided Europe. Its remainders, still to be found in many parts of the continent, are both a testimony and a warning not to build other walls.
The Brussels branch of Più Europa (Italian liberal party) and other liberal friends invite all pro-Europeans to join and pay homage to those who fell in the name of liberty, and to celebrate Europe.

Let's gather at the Kennedy Piece monument in front of the Berlaymont Palace (European Commission main building) on Saturday 9 November.
--> This is an event dedicated to all passionate European citizens. At the monument, anyone will be free to say a few words, or to tell their "Berlin Wall" story. Let this be a spontaneous event!

Anita, Benedetta, Giorgio and other members of Più Europa Brussels will be there to meet you between 12 and 1 pm.
See you in numbers!
