International Whole Grain Day 2019

Food
cpw-2
Date: Tuesday, 19 November 2019 15:00 - 17:00

Venue: Europan Parliament

We are delighted to invite you to participate in the event entitled “Take Whole grain Seriously! Make your grains whole: for your and the planet’s health”, co-hosted by MEP Katainen (FI, Renew) and the Whole Grain Initiative, which will take place on Tuesday 19th November 2019, from 15:00 to 17:00, at the European Parliament in Brussels – room ASP 5G1.

We would like to invite you to celebrate the importance of whole grain consumption for your and the planet’s health and to further call on the political community to support healthy and sustainable dietary switches.

The high-level meeting will consist of an interactive panel discussion moderated by Sue Saville, a  highly-experienced journalist specialised in health and well-being. A networking reception will follow the moderated discussion.

The event will inaugurate the first edition International Whole Grain Day and, on the occasion of celebrating whole grain, aims to launch a conversation around the following themes:

1.         Encourage more people to “make their grains whole” as part of healthy and sustainable dietary patterns.

2.         Act as an incubator for exchanging whole grain good practices, knowledge and initiatives across Europe to create an EU whole grain movement.

3.         Create enabling environments from farm to fork, so consumers can better access healthier, affordable, convenient and delicious whole grain products.

4.         Nudge consumers into making whole grain a daily habit via the promotion of meaningful whole grain recommendations in National Food-Based Dietary Guidelines.

To obtain overview of how you can support the International Whole Grain Day, please download the letter of endorsement as well as the draft Agenda.
