Public lighting modernization in cooperation with local utilities

Energy, Environment, and Climate - Webinars
Covenant of majors
Date: Tuesday, 19 January 2016 09:30 - 10:30

Venue: On-line

Organised in cooperation with CEDEC

Public lighting is an important municipal administration cost item, especially in countries with high per capita public lighting electricity consumption and high public lighting electricity price, like Italy.  This webinar aims to present the success-stories of 2 different municipalities and their local energy companies. A case study from Italy (A2A, Milano) and a case study from Belgium (Régie de Wavre) will be presented and discussed.

They both illustrate the significant untapped potential in public lighting modernisation.
About 2/3 of the total population of both Belgium and Italy live in municipalities that have signed the Covenant of Mayors. A significant part of them plan public lighting upgrades. Local energy companies can play an important role, as they own and operate a significant part of the public lighting systems.

An analysis of the public lighting energy consumption of Covenant of Mayors signatories ('Financing public lighting modernisation') is available in the Funding Instruments section of the website, here.

Speakers: Paolo Meneghini (A2A S.p.A., Milan, Italy) & Roger le Bussy (Distribution System Operator, Wavre, Belgium)
