20 September last, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis has been a speaker of the twelfth edition of the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto festival, organized by Slow Food, Municipality of Turin  and the Piedmont Region in Turin.

The Commissioner spoke during the first day of the festival, which took place from 20 to 24 September, focusing  on food waste and the use of antibiotics in farms; then he was the man speaker inan actual citizen dialogue in the afternoon.

Securing network and information systems in the European Union is essential to keep the online economy running and to ensure prosperity. The European Union works on a number of fronts to promote cyber resilience across the European Union.

In view of a dynamically evolving threat landscape and building on the review of the 2013 EU cybersecurity strategy, tackling the cybersecurity perils together was one of the three challenges identified in the mid-term review of the Digital Single Market.

On 13 September 2017 the Commission adopted a cybersecurity package. The package builds upon existing instruments and presents new initiatives to further improve EU cyber resilience and response.

The webinar “Food Waste: cities to the rescue! From diagnosis to strategy” took place last 19 June and focused on the development of a strategy to tackle the problem of food waste in European cities.

It rose from a successful collaboration between FoodWIN, the European Food Waste Innovation Network supporting European cities to reduce food waste, EUROCITIES, the network of major European cities and the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact, signed in Milan in October 2015 during Expo by more than 100 cities.
