ABOUT DYNAMIX and POLFREE

The DYNAMIX (DYNAmic policy MIXes for absolute decoupling of environmental impact of EU resource use from economic growth) project aims at (i) investigating causes and drivers of (in)efficient resource use (driver analysis), (ii) learning from past successful or failing policies aimed at supporting decoupling (ex-post policy analysis), (iii) designing promising policy mixes tackling (some of) the drivers identified and informed by ex-post policy analysis, (iv) assessing the potential environmental, economic and social impacts as well as public acceptance and legal feasibility of the policy mixes through forward-looking qualitative and quantitative ex-ante assessments (qualitative assessments as well as economic and physical/environmental modelling). The POLFREE (POLicy Options For a Resource-Efficient Europe) project holds three key objectives. The first is to understand why we are not using resources as efficiently as we might. The second is to develop a vision for what a resource efficient economy may look like, and what concepts, business models, policy options and governance options may be employed to deliver it. The third objective is to develop and quantitatively assess the impact of three typified governance and policy scenarios for reaching a resource efficient economy in the EU. In achieving these objectives, the insights derived will advance our understanding of the resource-efficiency challenge, and provide policy makers with options for how to effectively tackle it. JOINT DYNAMIX-POLFREE CONFERENCE
The DYNAMIX – POLFREE Joint Final Conference on “Policy mixes promoting resource efficiency for a circular economy” will take place in Brussels on 15- 16 February 2016. This Joint Final Conference will offer the unique opportunity to learn from two major research projects and their findings on policy mixes for resource efficiency, networking with a large pool of experts and practitioners from all over Europe, and taking part in a high-level debate to link science-based evidence to the upcoming Circular Economy Package.
